Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrin Vaughn (ranked 7088 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Devil (ranked 4557 p4p, 0 weight class). The Devil has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darrin Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Devil!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devil moves to clinch but Vaughn breaks away
and Vaughn counters with a two punch combo.

Devil shoots in and bounces Vaughn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Vaughn keeping moving, preventing Devil from controlling successfully.
Vaughn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Devil throws a big right hand that misses.
Devil trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Devil controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vaughn is pulling down on Devil's head to control his posture.
Vaughn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Vaughn trying to keep a closed guard but Devil is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Devil misses with a series of wild punches.

Devil shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Devil looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Devil wants to free his trapped foot but Vaughn is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Devil wants to stand up but Vaughn manages to regain full guard.
Vaughn trying to control the position.
Devil is stalling in the full guard.
Devil is fighting to break Vaughn's control of his arms but Vaughn is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Vaughn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Devil trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Devil wants to control from the top but Vaughn keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Devil throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Devil is looking to clinch but Vaughn is avoiding it.

Devil shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vaughn is trying to defend but Devil finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Devil stands up and beckons Vaughn to join him on the feet.

Vaughn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Devil has closed the distance and engaged Vaughn in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Devil jumps guard and drags Vaughn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Vaughn wanted to stand there but Devil had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Devil dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Devil throws a body kick that misses.

Devil shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vaughn is trying to defend but Devil finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Vaughn is looking to control Devil's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vaughn avoid being mounted?
Vaughn is looking for a sweep. Devil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Devil passes into side control, despite Vaughn's attempt to control the position.
Vaughn is looking to regain half guard here but Devil keeps moving and retains side control.

Devil trying to control the position but Vaughn is working away.
Vaughn regains half guard.
Devil looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Devil slows the pace down in half guard.

Devil postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vaughn to stand up.
Devil keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Devil lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Vaughn keeps the fight on the outside.
Vaughn seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Devil shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The Devil has got the better of the ground game so far.
Vaughn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Devil is working away from the top position though.
Devil is controlling the pace.

Devil tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Vaughn.
Vaughn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Devil on the ground.
Vaughn trying to control but Devil postures up.
Vaughn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Devil seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vaughn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Devil tries to bum rush Vaughn with a series of wild strikes but Vaughn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Devil moves into the clinch.
Vaughn wants to stall.

Devil breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Devil is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vaughn's half guard.
Vaughn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Devil seems to be working for a kimura but Vaughn defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Devil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Devil throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vaughn wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Devil clinches.
Devil has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Devil manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Vaughn is looking to take this one to the mat.

Vaughn is fighting off a takedown attempt but Devil is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vaughn to the mat. Vaughn regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Devil seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Devil is looking to advance position but Vaughn has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Devil wants to control but Vaughn is having none of it.

Vaughn is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Devil has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Devil!
Vaughn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Devil controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Devil is continuing to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vaughn is adopting a defensive guard.
Vaughn looking for a sweep. Not yet Vaughn, not yet.

Devil advances position into side control!
Vaughn manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Devil throws a strike but Vaughn avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Devil is looking to stand up but Vaughn won't let him.
Vaughn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Devil feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Devil takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vaughn has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Devil has passed into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Devil connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Vaughn some visible discomfort.

And that's the end of the fight!
The Devil comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Devil has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
