The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Ryan scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Abbott shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Von Ryan's guard.
Abbott engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
It looks like Abbott might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Abbott is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Von Ryan is working an open guard so Abbott takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Herlock Von Ryan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Abbott closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Von Ryan quickly recovers to half guard.

Abbott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Abbott looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Von Ryan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Von Ryan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Von Ryan.
Abbott is looking to advance position but Von Ryan has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Abbott holds on for dear life.

Von Ryan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Abbott has worked his arm free - good work by Abbott!
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Abbott sneaks out the side door and pushes Von Ryan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Abbott gets the takedown into side control.

The referee asks Abbott politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Abbott prefers to stall for the moment though.
Von Ryan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Abbott off and has taken his back!

Abbott drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Von Ryan pushes a forearm under Abbott's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Abbott is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
