Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrin Vaughn (ranked 23494 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Sawyer (ranked 4873 p4p, 456 weight class). Sawyer has chosen Tom Sawyer by Rush as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawyer misses with a right hand
and Vaughn counters with a head kick.
Vaughn takes one to the side of the head.

It looks like Darrin Vaughn has been cut.

Sawyer drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sawyer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vaughn is keeping the position for now.
Vaughn wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sawyer pushes down on Vaughn's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sawyer seems to be looking for submissions.

Sawyer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vaughn is not content to let Sawyer control the position.
Vaughn is looking to control Sawyer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vaughn avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sawyer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Vaughn!
Sawyer trying to control but Vaughn is having none of it.
Sawyer wants to take his opponent's back but Vaughn doesn't allow it.

Sawyer has hold of Vaughn's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Vaughn manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Sawyer is working for a guillotine from mount but Vaughn frees his head quite easily.

Sawyer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Vaughn is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Vaughn and Sawyer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sawyer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Vaughn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vaughn can't do much from the bottom here.

Sawyer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vaughn has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sawyer but great work by Vaughn.
Vaughn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sawyer keeps working.

Vaughn decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sawyer to his feet.
Sawyer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A swing and a miss from Sawyer.
Tom Sawyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sawyer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sawyer scores with a jab.

Vaughn is rocked!
A head kick misses from Sawyer.
Oh Vaughn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sawyer lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Vaughn up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Sawyer from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Vaughn's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tom Sawyer!
Tom Sawyer decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
