PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erlend Jahr (ranked 888 p4p, 139 weight class) and Johnny Bronco (ranked 703 p4p, 117 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erlend Jahr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Bronco!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bronco getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Bronco bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jahr tries to clinch but Bronco is having none of it.
Bronco looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jahr takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Bronco tries to keep at a distance but Jahr has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jahr tries to throw a body punch but Bronco avoids it by throwing Jahr back against the cage.

Jahr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jahr misses with a hook from the clinch.
Jahr has a couple of punches blocked by Bronco.
Bronco lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Jahr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bronco uses from the top position.
Bronco wants to control from the top but Jahr keeps moving.

Jahr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bronco defends well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bronco sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jahr's guard.

Bronco is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Bronco is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Jahr to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Bronco working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jahr's head.

Bronco forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jahr has a hand on Bronco's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bronco takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Jahr regains half guard.
Jahr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bronco's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bronco's back!

Jahr keeps control of the position as Bronco tries to break free.
Jahr gets his hands free as Bronco looks to control.
Bronco rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Bronco is looking for a sweep. Jahr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bronco is staying active underneath Jahr, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bronco moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Bronco dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bronco looks to land a right hand but Jahr moved out of range.
Bronco wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jahr looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bronco throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bronco fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jahr looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Johnny Bronco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bronco lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bronco gets tackled into the cage by Jahr. Jahr maintains the clinch.

Bronco has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jahr tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bronco lands with a short shot to the head.
Bronco lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Jahr jumps guard but Bronco stands there with Jahr around his waist. Jahr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erlend Jahr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bronco gets through Jahr's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Jahr seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Jahr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bronco has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Bronco manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jahr manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jahr wants to sweep here but Bronco controlling him for the moment.

Jahr has his foot on Bronco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bronco works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bronco advances to half guard.
Jahr gets back to full guard.
Bronco in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bronco postures up in Jahr's guard and throws a big left but Jahr blocks it.

Bronco got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jahr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bronco has managed to get both his arms back between Jahr's legs - danger averted.

Johnny Bronco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jahr drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bronco wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Bronco isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jahr stacks Bronco on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jahr!

Bronco is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd cheers as Bronco lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jahr doesn't seem phased though.
Bronco lands with an uppercut that bounces Jahr off the cage and back into range.
Bronco circles away from the clinch attempt.
Erlend Jahr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bronco keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bronco throws a series of punches but Jahr moves out of range.
Bronco connects with a crisp jab.
Bronco steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jahr.
Bronco cracks Jahr with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bronco throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bronco darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bronco lands a right hook to the body.
Johnny Bronco is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bronco, as that shot connected.
Bronco misses with a two punch combination.
Jahr drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bronco sprawls and moves away.
Bronco lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Jahr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bronco but Bronco pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jahr takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jahr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erlend Jahr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bronco lunges at Jahr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jahr's hand.
Jahr ducks right into an uppercut from Bronco.

Bronco rushes Jahr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jahr misses with a punch on the inside.
Jahr tries a body shot but Bronco blocks it.
Jahr jumps guard but Bronco turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jahr can't find room to land a body shot as Bronco controls the action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnny Bronco comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bronco winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
