The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharma ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sharma seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Sharma tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slayin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Slayin steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Sharma.

Slayin moves into the clinch successfully.
Slayin tries to land knees in the clinch but Sharma avoids the damage to the body.

I was talking to Sharma's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Slayin has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Sharma seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Slayin can turn it around.

Sharma throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Slayin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sharma on the side of the head.

Sharma tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slayin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Slayin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Sharma takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Slayin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Sharma had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

A little feinted left hand from Sharma on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

A less than humble Rhymin Slayin misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
