Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Gustuvf (ranked 6604 p4p, 410 weight class) and Shane Graham (ranked 6785 p4p, 416 weight class). Shane Graham looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Gustuvf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Graham!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Graham drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gustuvf looking for a sweep. Not yet Gustuvf, not yet.
Gustuvf pulls Graham in close to prevent any damage.

Graham stands and steps away. Gustuvf gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Gustuvf falls off balance throwing a combination
and Graham counters with a one-two to the body.
Graham goes for a double leg but Gustuvf avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gustuvf continues to drive forward.
Gustuvf tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Graham manages to circle out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gustuvf with a poor takedown
and Graham cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gustuvf changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Graham tries to avoid it but Gustuvf manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Graham to the ground. Graham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gustuvf leaves Graham with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gustuvf takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Graham fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Alex Gustuvf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Graham.
Gustuvf shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gustuvf shoots in and drives through. Graham sprawls well.
Graham doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Graham has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Graham misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gustuvf goes for a double leg but Graham avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Graham continues to drive forward.

Graham lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Graham tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Gustuvf tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Graham smiles and moves away.

Graham has closed the distance and engaged Gustuvf in a clinch.
Gustuvf tries to pull guard but Graham won't allow it.
Graham lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Gustuvf is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Graham pulls guard.
Gustuvf works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Graham tries to get to full guard but Gustuvf has control of the leg.

Graham has hold of Gustuvf's hands but Gustuvf slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Gustuvf lands with a punch from half guard.
Gustuvf performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Gustuvf looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Graham keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Gustuvf is controlling the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Graham trying to control but Gustuvf postures up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gustuvf is looking for a kimura here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Still in half guard, Gustuvf seems content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Graham dominated that round.
That's time! Gustuvf's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Graham throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Graham throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gustuvf's waist but Gustuvf gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Graham off to one side.
Gustuvf tries to clinch but Graham is having none of it.
Gustuvf fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gustuvf throws a sloppy head kick and Graham moves out of range easily.
Graham avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Graham is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gustuvf with a body shot.

Graham turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Graham has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Graham stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Graham is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Graham is breathing heavily.
Gustuvf fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Gustuvf. No joy for Graham on that attempt.

Gustuvf breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Graham shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Graham drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gustuvf defends it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gustuvf tries to clinch up but Graham circles away and keeps his distance.

Graham wants to take the fight to the mat but Gustuvf manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Graham gets control of Gustuvf's arms and successfully pulls guard. Graham will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Graham wants to sweep but no luck.
Gustuvf might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gustuvf stands up over Graham, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Gustuvf seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Graham for as long as he can get away with.
Graham thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alex Gustuvf will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Gustuvf with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gustuvf tries to clinch up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Graham is defended easily by Gustuvf.
Gustuvf looks to land a right hand but Graham moved out of range.
Shane Graham seems to be getting the better of the standup.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gustuvf manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Graham on his heels. He'll look to pass Graham's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Graham manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Gustuvf goes for a takedown attempt but Graham pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Graham closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Graham manages to pull guard.
Graham takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Graham can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gustuvf controls the pace.
Gustuvf's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Graham wants to sweep here but Gustuvf controlling him for the moment.
Gustuvf keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Graham's head.
Graham is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gustuvf is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Graham with that takedown attempt.
It looked like Gustuvf was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Gustuvf tries to close the distance and clinch up but Graham swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gustuvf shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Graham pinned against the cage. Graham gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Gustuvf. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Graham counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Graham.

Graham doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Gustuvf dives in and scores a takedown into Graham's guard.

Graham working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gustuvf doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gustuvf manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Graham is looking to stand up but Gustuvf isn't so interested in that idea.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Shane Graham.
Well Graham has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
