Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Herman Merman (ranked 21673 p4p, 605 weight class) and Cathail Murphy (ranked 22180 p4p, 614 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Herman Merman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Cathail Murphy!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Merman quickly recovers to half guard.
Merman controlling the position for now.
Murphy wants to take a breather but Merman is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Merman manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Murphy keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Murphy gets control of Merman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Murphy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Murphy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Merman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Murphy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cathail Murphy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Murphy shoots in and bounces Merman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Murphy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Merman is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murphy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Cathail Murphy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
