PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between methos lage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

lage has managed to clinch.

lage jumps into guard, dragging Mendes to the mat.
lage not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mendes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

lage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mendes drops back looking for a leg! lage is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and lage manages to kick Mendes off! Mendes jumps back into lage's guard.

Mendes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mendes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
lage wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Mendes thows a big elbow that misses.
lage is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Mendes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Mendes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

lage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

lage is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Mendes has managed to free his arm - good work.

lage has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mendes defend it? lage steps over the head and cranks it - Mendes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for lage!
