Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Allen (ranked 5355 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rocket (ranked 5478 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Josh Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Rocket!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen slaps away a takedown attempt from Rocket, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Allen throws a big counter combination but Rocket scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Allen leaves Rocket with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rocket clinches.
Rocket tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Allen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Josh Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Rocket.
Rocket tries to pull guard but Allen forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Allen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rocket uses from the top position.

Rocket got a little sloppy there for a moment and Allen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rocket has managed to get both his arms back between Allen's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Allen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rocket defends it nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rocket wants to clinch.
Rocket will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown attempt by Allen or perhaps it was just good defense by Rocket, which made it look bad.
Rocket looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Allen drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rocket sprawls and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rocket.
Allen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Allen misses with a low kick.
Rocket only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Allen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rocket is fending him off so far but Allen persists. Nope, Rocket circles away and we're back to standing.
Rocket wants to counter with a clinch but Allen pushes him away.
Allen shoots in but no luck this time.
Allen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Allen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Allen is breathing heavily.
Nice sprawl there from Rocket as Allen shoots in.
Allen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Allen looks for a takedown but Rocket sprawls well.

Rocket has Allen up against the cage in a clinch.
Rocket tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Allen smiles and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Allen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rocket throws a big counter head kick but Allen avoids it with no problem.
Rocket lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Rocket closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rocket lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rocket passes Allen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Allen has hold of Rocket's hands but Rocket slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Rocket lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Rocket dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rocket tries for a takedown but Allen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Allen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rocket misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Allen goes for a double leg but Rocket avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rocket continues to drive forward.
Nice takedown defense from Allen. No joy for Rocket on that attempt.

Rocket tries to land a front kick but Allen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Rocket postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rocket wants to pass the guard but Allen is keeping the position.

Allen scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Rocket slaps away a takedown attempt from Allen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Rocket tightens his grip and picks Allen up, before dumping him to the ground. Allen manages to land in guard.

Allen has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rocket is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A frustrated look appears on Allen's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Allen jumps guard and drags Rocket to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Allen will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Rocket shoots for a double leg takedown but Allen sprawls well. He's pushed Rocket's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Allen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Rocket fails to land the takedown.

Allen rushes Rocket and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Allen is looking to break free of the clinch but Rocket has double underhooks.
Rocket is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Allen is defending well for now.

Rocket has picked Allen up - he's going for a ride! Rocket dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Allen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Rocket takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Allen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rocket tries to avoid it but Allen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rocket to the ground. Rocket escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rocket lands with a kick to the temple. Allen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
No luck for Rocket with that takedown attempt.

Allen wants to clinch up but Rocket keeps it at a distance.
Allen jabs at Rocket's body.

Allen gets the takedown into side control.
Allen advances nicely into full mount.
Rocket can't escape the position.
Allen misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rocket wants to hold on but Allen pushes him away.

Allen throws some wild stikes that Rocket manages to avoid easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Allen lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rocket working to try and regain half guard.

Allen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rocket is surviving well by controlling Allen's body position as best he can.

Allen tries to control but Rocket wriggling away.
Allen lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Allen thowing shots but they're missing.
Josh Allen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Allen is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Rocket slaps away a takedown attempt from Allen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rocket scores with a head kick.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Rocket.
Allen tries to clinch there but Rocket circles away.
Rocket stalks Allen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Allen's face. Allen staggers backwards, shaken.
Rocket stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rocket wants it to stay on the feet.
Allen lands an overhand right.
Allen has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd cheers as Rocket lands an impressive looking overhand right. Allen doesn't seem phased though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josh Allen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Allen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
