PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dairis Golovka (ranked 24792 p4p, 259 weight class) and Curtis Jackson (ranked 2472 p4p, 132 weight class). Jackson has chosen Bobby Shmurda - Hot N*gga as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dairis Golovka had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dairis Golovka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson gets tackled into the cage by Golovka. Golovka maintains the clinch.

Jackson breaks from the clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Golovka lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jackson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jackson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jackson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Golovka on the side of the head.
Jackson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Golovka counters by clinching up.
Jackson working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Golovka is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Golovka really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jackson misses with the head strike.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Golovka moves out of range.
Golovka looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
A little jabbing left from Jackson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jackson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Golovka looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jackson!

Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes Golovka away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Golovka went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
Jackson connects with a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson tries to work over Golovka's front leg with a kick but Golovka checks it.
Jackson connects with a looping right hand.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Golovka gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Golovka has hold of one of Jackson's legs. Jackson is fighting the takedown attempt but Golovka gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Golovka stays in close to Jackson's body and controls the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.

Jackson tries to stand but Golovka is controlling from the bottom.
Golovka is looking to sweep but instead, Jackson has passed into half guard.

Jackson decides to return to a standing position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson doesn't manage to clinch there - Golovka circles away.
Jackson lands a two punch combo.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.
An inside leg kick from Jackson misses.
Golovka shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dairis Golovka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
It looked like Golovka was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Jackson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jackson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Golovka is looking to clinch but Jackson is avoiding it.
Jackson has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Golovka avoids it well.
Jackson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Golovkas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Golovka has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jackson finds it's way round the side to connect with Golovka's head.
Jackson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jackson looks to land a left hand but Golovka moved out of range nicely.
Jackson jabs Golovka right on the nose. Golovka blinks but takes it well.
Jackson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Golovka counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Golovka showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Golovka wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Jackson wants to stand up but Golovka is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Jackson dominated that round.

Golovka is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Jackson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Golovka.

Golovka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes.
Golovka doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jackson counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dairis Golovka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Golovka has his takedown stuffed
enabling Jackson to counter with a crisp jab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson clinches up with Golovka and pushes him back against the cage.
Golovka looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jackson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Golovka tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Jackson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jackson lands a head shot.
Curtis Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson lands a lovely overhand right.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Golovka is able to avoid easily.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Golovka avoids it well.
Danga de danga de dang - Jackson scores with a four punch combination!
Golovka throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jackson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Golovka backs up against the cage.


Golovka is rocked!

Jackson clinches with his opponent.
Oh Golovka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Golovka tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jackson darts in and clinches Golovka up against the cage.
Jackson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Golovka throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Jackson scores with a counter punch that sends Golovka to the canvas! Jackson smells blood - he's punishing Golovka with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Golovka has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Curtis Jackson!
A very excited looking Curtis Jackson rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
