The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manni throws a low kick but it's checked well by King.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Manni moves out of range easily.

and King counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by King.

Manni controls King momentarily but King frees himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Wagner King has been cut.

Manni has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as King is landing a low percentage of strikes.

King changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Manni fights it off and pushes away nicely.

As Manni tries to get set, King tries to push him back and clinch up but Manni manages to avoid the attempt.

King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Manni but Manni pushes him off and we're back to square one.

King has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

King cracks Manni with a big right hand but Manni just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Manni is not content to let King control the position.

King is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Manni knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
King misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Wagner King will probably get the nod.

Moerder Manni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Manni stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Manni wants it to stay on the feet.
King drops his hands momentarily and Manni takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and King counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with King in particular looking to stall.

King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Manni is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King works his foot free and advances to mount.

Manni trying to control the hands but King won't let him.

King is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Manni has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but King has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Manni taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. King doesn't care though - he's delighted!
