PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Chandler (ranked 4753 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Kent (ranked 3937 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kent's choice of entrance music: Ready for war. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremiah Chandler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Kent!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chandler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kent to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kent stopping the sweep attempt from Chandler.
Kent stops Chandler from standing up.
Chandler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chandler is controlling Kent's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chandler has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kent is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kent is looking for a takedown.
Chandler is trying to push Kent away but Kent has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Chandler misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kent.
Kent tries for a takedown but Chandler manages to get underhooks.

Chandler pulls guard.
Kent trying to control the position from guard on top but Chandler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kent preventing the sweep.
Kent wants to control from the top but Chandler keeps moving.
Chandler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kent missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kent with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Chandler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kent is aware though and is defending well.
Kent postures up.
Kent keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Chandler's head.
Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chandler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kent being controlled here momentarily.
Chandler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kent wants to control but Chandler is keeping busy.
Chandler is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Chandler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent tries to get to full guard but Chandler has control of the leg.
Chandler keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Chandler working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kent has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chandler is working away from the top position though.
Chandler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Chandler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kent for as long as he can get away with.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kent misses with a takedown
and Chandler counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jeremiah Chandler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Kent.
Kent dives in for a single leg takedown but Chandler sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Chandler attempts a counter takedown but Kent avoids it well and moves away.
Chandler slips a jab and a cross from Kent.
Chandler is looking to counter punch.
Kent misses with a takedown

and Chandler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kent looks winded!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chandler wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremiah Chandler dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Kent clinches up with Chandler and pushes him back against the cage.

Chandler breaks from the clinch.
Kent wants to land a leg kick but Chandler is out of range.
Kent misses with a body kick.

Kent throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chandler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kent is in Chandler's guard.
Kent tries to stand but Chandler is controlling from the bottom.

Kent content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Chandler has locked up a guillotine! Chandler's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kent is holding on here and Chandler must be using up a lot of energy. Kent has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Chandler gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jeremiah Chandler!
In defeat, Alex Kent stepped up to the mic, saying 'I gotta be better next time I will be back'.
