Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Steve Abonyi!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abonyi has a takedown stuffed.

Ambe closes the distance and pushes Abonyi back into the cage.

Ambe works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Abonyi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ambe in particular looking to stall.
Abonyi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ambe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Abonyi is looking to get back to full guard here but Ambe has managed to pass to side control instead.
Ambe is putting a hurting on Abonyi here, landing some big shots from side control.

Ambe cracks Abonyi with a big right hand but Abonyi just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The referee asks Ambe politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ambe prefers to stall for the moment though.

Ambe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ambe is taking a breather. Abonyi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Abonyi has hold of Ambe's hands but Ambe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rick Ambe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ambe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Abonyi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ambe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Abonyi can do to turn this around?

It looks like Steve Abonyi has been cut.
Ambe scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Abonyi is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Ambe can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
