PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kazuka Fuujin (ranked 270 p4p, 15 weight class) and Kylar Sensei (ranked 409 p4p, 24 weight class). Fuujin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is a lot of Asian swag in this young man. Kylar Sensei is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kazuka Fuujin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kylar Sensei!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuujin avoids the body shot from Sensei.
Sensei throws a body punch but Fuujin moves out of range.
Sensei lands with a nice body punch.
Sensei has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Fuujin is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Fuujin wants to slow Sensei down by chopping away at his legs.
Fuujin misses with a wild body shot.
Fuujin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Sensei misses with a body shot.
Sensei throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fuujin half committed to a counter leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fuujin, as that shot connected.
Sensei lands with a shot to the body.
Fuujin wants to slow Sensei down by chopping away at his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sensei scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sensei wants to control but Fuujin is keeping him busy.
Fuujin managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sensei.
Fuujin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Fuujin is trying to control but can't.
Fuujin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Convicted Fight Club, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Sensei wants to work for an arm triangle but Fuujin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fuujin is pressing down on Sensei's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Sensei is pushing down on Fuujin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fuujin is fighting to maintain full guard but Sensei has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sensei is trying to control the action in half guard but Fuujin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fuujin wants to control but Sensei is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sensei moves nicely into side control.
Fuujin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sensei is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fuujin defends it well.
Fuujin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sensei trying to control the action but Fuujin is working from the bottom.

Sensei thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fuujin's head.
Sensei lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sensei with the ground and pound but Fuujin uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Fuujin looking for a guillotine here but Sensei defends easily.
Sensei sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fuujin's guard.
Sensei working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Sensei wants to pass the guard but Fuujin is defending well.
Fuujin wants to control but Sensei is keeping busy.
Sensei not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sensei working over Fuujin with some ground and pound. Fuujin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Sensei is working for a kimura but Fuujin is defending it quite comfortably.
Sensei is trying to control the action in half guard but Fuujin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Sensei lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sensei drops an elbow to the side of Fuujin's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sensei is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fuujin sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice defenses there by Fuujin.
Some bone on bone action there as Sensei checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sensei.
Sensei has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sensei misses with a shot to the body
and Fuujin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sensei throws out a loose jab but Fuujin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fuujin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sensei throws a body shot but no joy.

Sensei shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fuujin gets full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sensei throws a big right hand that misses.
Fuujin looking for a sweep. Not yet Fuujin, not yet.

Sensei got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fuujin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sensei has managed to get both his arms back between Fuujin's legs - danger averted.
Fuujin wants to improve his position but instead Sensei has moved into half guard.

Sensei is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sensei has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sensei not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fuujin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sensei.

Sensei stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fuujin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fuujin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sensei's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Fuujin trying to keep a closed guard but Sensei is proving a slippery customer.
Fuujin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sensei's guard.

Sensei is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sensei is trying to control. Fuujin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sensei looks to land a strike but Fuujin avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Sensei stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fuujin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sensei wants to pass the guard but Fuujin is keeping the position.

Fuujin has momentary wrist control but Sensei slips an elbow through the middle.
Kylar Sensei has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sensei stands up over Fuujin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fuujin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sensei tries to free his leg and advance position but Fuujin is retaining full guard.
Sensei throws a big elbow that misses.
Sensei is working Fuujin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sensei sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Fuujin doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Sensei paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Fuujin - great work!
