The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez's corner calls for a 1-2. Rodriguez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That was a close round but I would say that Pablo Rodriguez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rodriguez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Thing is looking to clinch.
Thing tries to move into range but Rodriguez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Rodriguez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Thing closes the distance and clinches.

Thing has Rodriguez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Thing pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rodriguez tumbling to the mat - Thing dives into Rodriguez's guard.

Rodriguez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thing doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thing manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Thing drops back looking for a leg! Rodriguez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rodriguez manages to kick Thing off! Thing jumps back into Rodriguez's guard.

Rodriguez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thing can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Thing stands up over Rodriguez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
