The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moraes misses with a lunging right hand
and Machado counters with a single leg into guard. Moraes didn't expect that.
Machado is pushing down on Moraes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moraes is fighting to maintain full guard but Machado has managed to sneak the leg through.
Moraes tries to get to full guard but Machado has control of the leg.
Moraes gets full guard.
Machado is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Machado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Machado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Moraes is trying to control the position but Machado postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Machado drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Moraes dives on top into guard.
Moraes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Machado is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Moraes has his hands clasped together but Machado extends and breaks Moraes's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Machado.
