Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Kunis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylvio Casamayor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Kunis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sylvio Casamayor!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casamayor throws a hook but Kunis blocks it.

Kunis has closed the distance and engaged Casamayor in a clinch.
Kunis stops a takedown attempt from Casamayor.
Casamayor is working for takedown but Kunis is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kunis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Casamayor walks away with a smile on his face. Kunis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Casamayor scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like Steve Kunis has been cut.
Casamayor fails to land the takedown.
Steve Kunis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sylvio Casamayor.
Nice sprawl there from Kunis as Casamayor shoots in.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kunis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Casamayor pinned against the cage. Casamayor gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Casamayor shoots for a double leg takedown but Kunis sprawls well. He's pushed Casamayor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kunis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kunis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kunis tries to clinch but Casamayor is having none of it.

and Kunis counters by moving into the clinch.
Kunis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Casamayor fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Casamayor looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kunis is looking for a sweep. Casamayor is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Casamayor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kunis defends it well.

Kunis looks like he's trying to stand up.

Casamayor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kunis is just riding it out for now. Casamayor eventually gives up the hold.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick from Kunis lands but Casamayor takes it in his stride.
Casamayor should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A right-left combo lands from Kunis.
Casamayor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kunis tries to avoid it but Casamayor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kunis to the ground. Kunis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kunis plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Kunis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Casamayor backs up against the cage.
Kunis shoots in for a double leg but Casamayor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Casamayor misses with a looping left.

Casamayor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Casamayor lands in his opponent's guard.
Casamayor tries to free his leg and advance position but Kunis is retaining full guard.
Casamayor passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kunis gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Casamayor jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kunis manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Casamayor tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kunis tries to buck Casamayor off but Casamayor is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Casamayor is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kunis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Casamayor.
Casamayor throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kunis counters with a head kick. That will keep Casamayor thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Kunis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kunis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Casamayor tries to avoid it but Kunis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Casamayor to the ground. Casamayor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Steve Kunis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Casamayor stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kunis.
Kunis closes the distance and clinches up with Casamayor, looking for a takedown. Kunis pushes Casamayor against the cage but Casamayor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kunis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Kunis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Casamayor swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Kunis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Casamayor manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kunis's best efforts.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Casamayor has eaten all the pies!

Casamayor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kunis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kunis controls Casamayor momentarily but Casamayor frees himself.

Casamayor drops back looking for a leg! Kunis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kunis manages to kick Casamayor off! Casamayor jumps back into Kunis's guard.

Casamayor is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kunis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Casamayor is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kunis has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kunis breaks Casamayor's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Casamayor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kunis's guard.
Casamayor wants to pass the guard but Kunis is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Casamayor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Kunis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Casamayor bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kunis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Casamayor on the ground.
Kunis wants to control but Casamayor postures up.
Kunis is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Casamayor is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Kunis is in real trouble.

Casamayor manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Casamayor has hold of Kunis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kunis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kunis tries to lock up and control but Casamayor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Casamayor is going olschool here, as he tries to force Kunis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kunis shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Casamayor has control of Kunis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kunis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Kunis tries to reverse the position but Casamayor maintains control.
Casamayor wants to take Kunis's back but he can't do it this time.

Casamayor with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Casamayor swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kunis is now in Casamayor's guard. A big mistake from Casamayor there, giving up the dominant position!

I've got Casamayor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
