PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nestor Reyes (ranked 4638 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Kraulthammer (ranked 4502 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nestor Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lars Kraulthammer!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kraulthammer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Reyes's guard.
Kraulthammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reyes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reyes trying to control the position.
Reyes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Reyes pushes Kraulthammer off and scrambles back to his feet.

Reyes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kraulthammer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Reyes has his foot on Kraulthammer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kraulthammer works his way back into a safe position though.
Reyes wants to get back to his feet but Kraulthammer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kraulthammer is in close to Reyes's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Reyes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kraulthammer is working Reyes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kraulthammer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reyes's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kraulthammer throws a strike but Reyes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kraulthammer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kraulthammer wants to sweep but no luck.
Reyes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kraulthammer wants to sweep here but Reyes controlling him for the moment.
Reyes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Kraulthammer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reyes postures up in Kraulthammer's guard and throws a big left but Kraulthammer blocks it.
Reyes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kraulthammer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reyes is controlling him.

Reyes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Reyes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kraulthammer's head.
Kraulthammer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kraulthammer looking for a sweep. Not yet Kraulthammer, not yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kraulthammer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Reyes to the mat! Reyes manages to get full guard.

Reyes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reyes trying to keep a closed guard but Kraulthammer is proving a slippery customer.
Reyes is breathing heavily.
Reyes keeping moving, preventing Kraulthammer from controlling successfully.

Reyes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kraulthammer won't allow Reyes to get back to his feet.
Kraulthammer lands a couple of digs.
Kraulthammer prevents Reyes from getting back to his feet.
Kraulthammer is looking to work some ground and pound but Reyes has wrist control.
Kraulthammer wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.
Kraulthammer is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kraulthammer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kraulthammer postures up and lands a big shot to Reyes's brow.
Kraulthammer trying to control but Reyes is working from the bottom.
Kraulthammer looking to sit in guard and control but Reyes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reyes throwing strikes from guard but Kraulthammer blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nestor Reyes will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kraulthammer slips a straight right by Reyes.

Kraulthammer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kraulthammer lands a decent elbow from side control.
Kraulthammer lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reyes down.


Reyes is rocked!
Reyes wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Oh Reyes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Reyes is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kraulthammer is controlling him well.
Kraulthammer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Reyes will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
A big shot lands for Kraulthammer! That's hurt Reyes! Will he recover? Kraulthammer fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lars Kraulthammer!
