PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcell Domenech (ranked 4694 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fathy Ahmad (ranked 4699 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Fathy Ahmad was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Domenech closes the distance and pushes Ahmad back into the cage.
Ahmad blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ahmad looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Ahmad should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ahmad can't break the clinch.
Domenech tries to pull guard but Ahmad holds him up against the cage and eventually Domenech drops back down to his feet.
Ahmad is looking to break free of the clinch but Domenech has double underhooks.

Domenech is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ahmad can't fight it off and eventually Domenech manages to take the fight to the floor. Ahmad looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Domenech is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Domenech drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Domenech jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ahmad wants to get back to his feet but Domenech is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Domenech is in close to Ahmad's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Domenech slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ahmad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Domenech. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Domenech lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ahmad down.

Domenech decides to stand back up. Domenech steps back and let's Ahmad get back to his feet.

Ahmad trying to stand up but can't free himself from Domenech's guard.

Domenech manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Ahmad wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Domenech has him pressed against the cage.
Ahmad can't break the clinch.
Ahmad avoiding damage as Domenech throws knees to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Domenech has clasped his hands together around Ahmad's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Domenech is working Ahmad over with some ground and pound from side control.
The referee asks Domenech politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Domenech prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ahmad takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Domenech thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Domenech advances nicely into full mount.
Ahmad is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Domenech scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Ahmad wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Domenech stands up from mount. Strange move.
Fathy Ahmad is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Domenech doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ahmad counters with a nice uppercut.
Domenech has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ahmad finds it's way round the side to connect with Domenech's head.

Domenech instigates a clinch.

Domenech manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Domenech holds on and takes a little breather.
Ahmad won't allow Domenech to get back to his feet.
Domenech pulls Ahmad in to control the position.
Domenech will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Domenech tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Domenech has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ahmad should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Domenech has tightened it up now! Ahmad should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
