Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Jones (ranked 3745 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maggot Soup (ranked 2752 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maggot Soup!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soup tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Soup shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Soup's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Soup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Soup persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones appears to be looking for a big counter.
Jerry Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maggot Soup.

and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Soup circles away quickly and effectively.
Soup shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Soup keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Soup is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jones wants the takedown. Soup is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Soup's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Soup tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Soup has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

It looks like Maggot Soup has been cut.

It looked like Jones was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Soup.

Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Soup stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Jones digs a right hand into Soup's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Soup's gas tank.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Soup drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Soup off! Soup jumps back into Jones's guard.

Soup's coach down at Island Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Soup's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soup keeps working.
Jones winds up and cracks Soup with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Jones sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Soup doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Jones paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Soup - great work!
