Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pera Vihtahousu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Filipe Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pera Vihtahousu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Filipe Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes moves into range and clinches up with Vihtahousu.
Mendes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vihtahousu pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mendes turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
You can see the frustration on Vihtahousu's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vihtahousu is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Vihtahousu can't do much from the bottom here.
Vihtahousu could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vihtahousu tries to improve position but can't.
Vihtahousu wants to control but Mendes postures up.
Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vihtahousu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mendes is looking to take a break and control but Vihtahousu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vihtahousu manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mendes's best efforts.
Vihtahousu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mendes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Vihtahousu tries to reverse the position but Mendes maintains control.

Vihtahousu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mendes lands a big shot there that rocks Vihtahousu but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Vihtahousu is looking to get to half guard.
Vihtahousu is breathing heavily.
Mendes wants to control the pace but Vihtahousu is squirming around nicely.
Vihtahousu is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Mendes manages to capitalize on a mistake by Vihtahousu to take his back!

Mendes keeps control of the position as Vihtahousu tries to break free.
Vihtahousu has hold of Mendes's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.
Vihtahousu is in bad spot here.

Mendes biding his time, looking for the opening.
Mendes is punishing Vihtahousu with strikes - can he finish him?!
I really don't envy Vihtahousu right now.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Vihtahousu trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Mendes tries to keep control of the position but Vihtahousu is staying busy.
Mendes looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

You can see the frustration on Vihtahousu's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Mendes is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Mendes gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Mendes gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Mendes apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Vihtahousu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mendes counters with a series of strikes. Vihtahousu will be more careful next time no doubt.

Vihtahousu throwing shots but Mendes is blocking nicely.

Vihtahousu seems to be working for a kimura but Mendes defends the submission attempt.

Mendes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Vihtahousu stops Mendes from standing up.

Filipe Mendes dominated that round.

Vihtahousu stuffs the takedown.
Mendes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Filipe Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mendes throws a low kick, looking for Vihtahousu's leg but Vihtahousu calmly moves out of range.
Mendes closes the distance and clinches up with Vihtahousu, looking for a takedown. Mendes pushes Vihtahousu against the cage but Vihtahousu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pera Vihtahousu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Filipe Mendes.

Vihtahousu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vihtahousu wants to control but Mendes is keeping him busy.

Mendes is trying to control Vihtahousu's posture but Vihtahousu avoids it.
Vihtahousu throwing strikes but Mendes manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Mendes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Vihtahousu is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mendes off and has taken his back!
