The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr closes the distance and clinches up with Nurmagomedov, looking for a takedown. Jr pushes Nurmagomedov against the cage but Nurmagomedov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nurmagomedov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jr is trying to defend but Nurmagomedov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nurmagomedov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jr sees it coming and defends easily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nurmagomedov connects with a nice short shot to Jr's temple.

Jr shoots in looking for a takedown but Nurmagomedov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jr's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Nurmagomedov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Nurmagomedov wants to work for an arm triangle but Jr is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jr is trying to control but Nurmagomedov passes into side control!

Nurmagomedov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Nurmagomedov creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Jr shoots in looking for a takedown. Nurmagomedov tries to sprawl out of it but Jr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nurmagomedov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nurmagomedov leaves Jr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nurmagomedov is looking to counter the offense by Jr and move into the clinch.

Nurmagomedov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jr tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nurmagomedov is in Jr's guard.

Nurmagomedov dives in and scores a takedown into Jr's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nurmagomedov pulls Jr in close to his closed guard and prevents Jr from doing any damage or advancing position.
Nurmagomedov pushes a forearm under Jr's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Jr is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
