Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thaler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Thaler lands a big shot there that rocks Evans but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Thaler remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Evans's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Thaler darts in and clinches Evans up against the cage.

Evans wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Thaler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Thaler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thaler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thaler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Thaler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Evans knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ervic Thaler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Evans misses with a series of wild punches.

Thaler moves into range and clinches up with Evans.

Thaler jumps guard and drags Evans to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Thaler has his foot on Evans's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Evans works his way back into a safe position though.
Evans wants to stand but Thaler is controlling his posture from full guard.

Evans is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Thaler has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Evans is looking to defend but Thaler has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Evans! Thaler pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Evans taps out and this one is all over!
