Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haseesh shoots in for a double leg but Paneer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Paneer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Paneer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Haseesh is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Haseesh tries to reverse the position but Paneer maintains control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

You can see the frustration on Haseesh's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paneer is chipping away with strikes.
Haseesh can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Paneer lands a really nice looking cross but Haseesh seems unphased.
Paneer connects with a nice looking jab.
Paneer lands with an uppercut that bounces Haseesh off the cage and back into rage.
Haseesh tries to close the distance and clinch but Paneer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Paneer feints and as Haseesh raises his hands in defense, Paneer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mukesh Paneer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


No joy there for Paneer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paneer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Paneer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Paneer wants to control from the top but Haseesh keeps moving.

Haseesh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Haseesh takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Paneer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Paneer lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Paneer.

Paneer dips to his left and cracks Haseesh with an uppercut!
Paneer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Haseesh circles away quickly and effectively.
Paneer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Paneer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Paneer throws a front kick aimed at Haseesh's knee but Haseesh avoids it well.

Paneer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Paneer is trying to control. Haseesh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Paneer slips a nice elbow through Haseesh's hands, connecting with Haseesh's forehead.
Paneer is taking a breather. Haseesh says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well Paneer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
