The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Diaz. Cherry does a little dance to reset his feet.
Diaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cherry was well out of range. Poor timing from Diaz.
Diaz throws a head kick but Cherry moves out of range.
Cherry tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Diaz manages to circle out of the way.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.
Diaz working Cherry over with knees to the body.
Diaz misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cherry.
Diaz tries to land knees in the clinch but Cherry avoids the damage to the body.
Diaz throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cherry is trying to push Diaz away but Diaz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Diaz connects with a massive knee from the clinch and Cherry goes down! Diaz jumps into full mount looking to finish!

Cherry is rocked!

It looks like Lavern Cherry has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Diaz stands up from mount. Strange move.
Oh Cherry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Diaz backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Cherry's temple! It sends Cherry violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Diaz celebrates and the doctors try to help Cherry!
