Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James wants to clinch.
James gets cracked there but stands up to it.
It looks like LeBron James has been cut.
We've been informed that Mircea has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Mircea paws at him with a jab and circles away.
James will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mircea looks to land a left hand but James moved out of range nicely.
James moves into range and clinches up with Mircea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mircea tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Mircea was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

James shoots for a takedown but Mircea saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mircea gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mircea wants to sweep but no luck.
James tries to free his leg and advance position but Mircea is retaining full guard.

James wants to work for an arm triangle but Mircea is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mircea is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of James's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take James's back!

James just trying to survive but Mircea is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Mircea really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for James.
James manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mircea's guard. Nice work there by James.

and Mircea counters with a stiff right hand.
James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mircea was well out of range. Poor timing from James.

Mircea displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from James.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mircea! But no joy.

A slow jab from Mircea misses its intended target.
James scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

and Mircea counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Mircea makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
James takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Mircea fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Alexandru Mircea seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Mircea sends James crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mircea is motioning to the referee to let James up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

and Mircea counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mircea to the mat! Mircea manages to get full guard.

Mircea has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mircea is pulling down on James's head. It's preventing any offense from James, at least for the moment.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

and Mircea counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jeez, LeBron James's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mircea swivels and escapes.
James is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mircea sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mircea.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mircea swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

and Mircea counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Mircea lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Mircea lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexandru Mircea showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
