Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dub Kong (ranked 2184 p4p, 253 weight class) and Simo Ahvenus (ranked 1441 p4p, 181 weight class). Dub Kong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dub Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Ahvenus!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong misses with a few strikes there.

Ahvenus closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ahvenus lands in his opponent's guard.
Ahvenus has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at K.O Heaven. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Kong is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ahvenus is controlling him.

Ahvenus is trying to control. Kong wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ahvenus on the ground.

Ahvenus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kong defends it well.
Kong tries to kick Ahvenus off in order to stand up. Ahvenus Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Ahvenus lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Ahvenus cracks Kong with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kong is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Kong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kong tries to get out of the position.
Ahvenus in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ahvenus is landing with some decent strikes but Kong is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
You get the feeling that Kong really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kong is squirming around, avoiding Ahvenus's attempts to control the action.
Ahvenus scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Kong is bucking up trying to escape but Ahvenus cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Ahvenus tries to control but Kong wriggling away.
Kong is in a horrible position here. Ahvenus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ahvenus is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kong can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kong is in a horrible position here. Ahvenus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ahvenus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kong is looking to escape.
Ahvenus postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kong looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simo Ahvenus dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kong throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ahvenus is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Kong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kong shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ahvenus eats them both and turns towards Kong to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Ahvenus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ahvenus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kong as he avoids it easily.

Dub Kong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simo Ahvenus.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Kong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kong is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ahvenus has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee warns Kong that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ahvenus has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kong's face.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ahvenus cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Ahvenus closes the distance and clinches up with Kong, looking for a takedown. Ahvenus pushes Kong against the cage but Kong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ahvenus shoots for a double leg takedown but Kong sprawls well. He's pushed Ahvenus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ahvenus changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Kong takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Simo Ahvenus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Ahvenus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kong's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dub Kong showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ahvenus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
