PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Quin (ranked 2359 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Rockstar (ranked 12943 p4p, 0 weight class). Quin comes to the cage accompanied by Captain Jack - Iko Iko. Rockstar has chosen You're The Best Around as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 25 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Quin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Rockstar!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quin misses with a straight right.
Rockstar tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Quin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Rockstar fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Quin checks it well.

Quin drives through with a takedown into Rockstar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rockstar controls Quin momentarily but Quin frees himself.
Quin stands and throws Rockstar's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Rockstar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rockstar is trying to control Quin's posture but Quin avoids it.
Quin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rockstar down.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rockstar is bucking up trying to escape but Quin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


It looks like Luke Rockstar has been cut.

Quin is landing with some decent strikes but Rockstar is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Quin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Quin throws a lazy right hand but Rockstar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Quin connects with a nice short shot to Rockstar's temple.

We've been hearing that Quin has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Rockstar scores with a hook to the body. Quin takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rockstar throws a shot from downtown. Quin moves away and avoids it.

Quin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rockstar pinned against the cage. Rockstar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Quin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rockstar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rockstar wants it to stay on the feet.

Rockstar takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Rockstar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Quin finds it's way round the side to connect with Rockstar's head.

Quin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Quin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rockstar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Rockstar drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Quin defends it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
