The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mash misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mash moves in looking to clinch but aoki pushes him off.
Mash tries to clinch up but aoki circles away and keeps his distance.
Mash looks to land a right hand but aoki moved out of range.
aoki shoots in and bounces Mash off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
aoki tries to free his leg and advance position but Mash is retaining full guard.
Mash throwing short punches from the bottom.
Mash wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
aoki drops back looking for a leg! Mash is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mash manages to kick aoki off! aoki jumps back into Mash's guard.
Mash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst aoki is controlling him.

aoki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mash keeping moving, preventing aoki from controlling successfully.
Mash avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
aoki trying to control but Mash is working from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
aoki tries for a takedown but Mash circles away easily
and Mash counters with a single leg into guard. aoki didn't expect that.
aoki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mash controlling from the top position.
aoki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
aoki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mash doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mash manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mash is posturing up here but aoki has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mash tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mash has to tap! Slick submission there by aoki!
