PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crack Head (ranked 4345 p4p, 423 weight class) and Louis Princip (ranked 3366 p4p, 354 weight class). Princip is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lord of This World by Black Sabbath. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Crack Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Louis Princip!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head fails with a takedown attempt.
Princip cracks Head with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Princip stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Princip connects with a jab.
Head gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Princip.
A jab from Princip does it's job there.
Head shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Princip stuffs the takedown attempt from Head. Head gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crack Head. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Princip keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Head swats away the attempt to clinch by Princip.
Princip throws a right and a left that both miss.
Princip uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Head has time to react.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Head dives in for a single leg takedown but Princip sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Princip lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Head looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Princip gets caught napping as Head dives in and scores a takedown. Princip manages to retain guard.
Princip is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Head is controlling him.

Princip pushes Head off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Head bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Princip tries to escape but Head is in control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Princip told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Head is looking for a kimura but Princip is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Head to get the leverage.

Princip is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Head scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Princip kicks Head off and gets back to his feet.
Princip is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Head had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Head takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Head goes for a double leg but Princip avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Princip continues to drive forward.

Princip scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Head doesn't seem bothered though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Head misses with a punch to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Head's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Head wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Princip lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Head backwards.
Princip can't find room to land a body shot as Head controls the action.
Princip keeps control of Head as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Princip tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Head's elbow.
Head tries to circle away but Princip has him pinned against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Head - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Princip creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Head pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Head ducks right into an uppercut from Princip.
Princip connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Princip lunges at Head with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Head's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Head drops his hands momentarily and Princip takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Princip lands a nice hook to Head's body. Head takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Head walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Princip slaps away a takedown attempt from Head, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Princip throws out a counter right but Head avoids it with no problem.
Princip scores with a one two! Head had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Head drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Princip wriggles free and stands up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Head closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Head looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Princip is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Head presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Princip lands a hook to the side of the head.

Oh Head is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Princip lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Head backwards.

Princip creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Head with a big uppercut! Head tries to clinch up but Princip pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Head to the mat! Head covers up and Princip unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

After winning the bout, Louis Princip thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
