PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Rome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gray Loose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Rome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gray Loose!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Loose with that takedown attempt.

Rome shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Loose has hold of Rome's hands but Rome slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rome thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Loose's head.
Rome missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rome is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Loose manages to get to full guard.
Rome showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Loose keeping moving, preventing Rome from controlling successfully.

Loose working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rome has passed into half guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rome is looking to take a break and control but Loose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rome is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Loose keeping full guard, as Rome tries to pass.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rome has gone for a leg lock! Loose slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rome's guard.
Rome doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Loose is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Loose is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rome Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Loose's back instead.
Loose trying to control the position but Rome manages to sink in the hooks.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rome trying to control momentarily.
Rome just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rome's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Rome dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Loose shoots in but Rome avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rome throws a body punch but Loose moves out of range.
Rome stuffs the takedown attempt from Loose. Loose gets slowly back to his feet.
Adam Rome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rome looking to land some kicks to the body here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome is looking to clinch but Loose is avoiding it.
Rome doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Loose counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rome has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Rome lands a decent shot there.
Rome is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Loose wants to control from the top but Rome keeps moving.
Loose preventing the sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rome looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Loose is breathing heavily.
Rome looking for a sweep. Not yet Rome, not yet.

Rome looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Loose passes into side control.
Rome is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Rome tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Rome is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Loose is looking to take a break and control but Rome is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rome with a poor takedown

and Loose decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rome's guard.
Rome trying to keep a closed guard but Loose is proving a slippery customer.
Loose wants to control from the top but Rome keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gray Loose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Rome darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rome missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rome with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Rome is trying to control. Loose wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Loose takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rome misses with a head shot. Loose uses the momentum to regain guard.
Loose controlling Rome's posture.
Loose can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rome controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rome wants to control from the top but Loose keeps moving.
Loose looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Rome postures up in Loose's guard and throws a big left but Loose blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rome has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Loose is proving hard to escape from.
Rome not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rome is looking to stand up but Loose won't let him.

Rome decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rome bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Rome politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rome prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rome stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Rome looks to clinch

and Loose counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rome has Loose pulled in close to control his posture.

And that's the end of the fight!
Adam Rome showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rome has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
