Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Benton (ranked 24189 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Pavchenko (ranked 4614 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Yuri Pavchenko enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Edmundo Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuri Pavchenko!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavchenko lands a nice looking body kick.

Pavchenko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Pavchenko seems content to control.
Benton tries to kick Pavchenko off but Pavchenko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Pavchenko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pavchenko misses with a head shot. Benton uses the momentum to regain guard.
Pavchenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pavchenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Benton is retaining full guard.

Benton is looking to stand up but Pavchenko isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pavchenko misses with a series of wild punches.

Pavchenko moves into the clinch successfully.
Benton stalling.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Benton stalling in the clinch but Pavchenko improves position.
Benton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pavchenko is trying to trip Benton. He has hold of a leg but Benton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pavchenko persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pavchenko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Benton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pavchenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pavchenko has eaten all the pies!
Benton utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Benton wants to stand but Pavchenko is controlling the position.
Pavchenko slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pavchenko throws a head kick that misses.

Pavchenko drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pavchenko slips nicely into half guard.
Pavchenko controlling the pace.
Pavchenko seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pavchenko in particular looking to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pavchenko is looking for a kimura but Benton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pavchenko to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuri Pavchenko dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pavchenko lands a head kick!
A slapping body kick lands there for Pavchenko.

Pavchenko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Benton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pavchenko is in Benton's guard.

Benton pushes Pavchenko off and scrambles back to his feet.
Pavchenko circles away from the clinch attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pavchenko throws a strike but Benton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pavchenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Benton trying to control the position from guard on top but Pavchenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Benton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Benton stays in close to Pavchenko's body and controls the position.

Pavchenko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Benton lands a couple of digs.
Benton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Pavchenko working for a triangle but Benton defends it easily.
Benton prevents Pavchenko from getting back to his feet.
Benton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pavchenko is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pavchenko is breathing heavily.
Benton lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Benton gets to his feet - Pavchenko follows without any prompting.
Benton throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pavchenko.

Pavchenko darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Benton has one foot on Pavchenko's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Benton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pavchenko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Benton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pavchenko tries to avoid it but Benton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pavchenko to the ground. Pavchenko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pavchenko lands a lovely overhand right.
Pavchenko throws a leg kick which misses Benton's front leg but catches the back leg as Benton tries to avoid it.

Pavchenko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pavchenko showed some decent athleticism there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Benton manages to get to full guard.

Benton is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Pavchenko rolls with it to try and escape but Benton cranks on the arm and Pavchenko is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
