Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Franklin Dong (ranked 3318 p4p, 400 weight class) and Cameron Miles (ranked 3106 p4p, 379 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Franklin Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cameron Miles!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miles looks for a takedown but Dong sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Miles.
Dong tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Miles throwing strikes here but Dong is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dong takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Cameron Miles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dong dives in and grabs Miles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Miles pushes down on Dong's head and hops out.
Dong goes for a double leg but Miles avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Miles continues to drive forward.

Miles moves into the clinch successfully.
Dong with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Dong manages to pull guard.
Dong has his hands on Miles's head, controlling the position.
Miles content to stall in guard here.

Miles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dong is keeping the position for now.

Miles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Miles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dong swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Miles throws a strike but Dong rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Miles is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miles can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miles is on top in guard.

Miles wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving.
Miles throws an elbow that misses. Dong uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Miles's guard. Nice move by Dong!

Miles is pulling down on Dong's head to control his posture.

Dong tries to stand but Miles is controlling from the bottom.
Miles looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dong gets to his feet - Miles follows without any prompting.
Nice takedown defense from Miles. No joy for Dong on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franklin Dong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dong wants to clinch.
Miles is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Miles wants to pass the guard but Dong is keeping the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Miles slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cameron Miles will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Miles goes for a double leg but Dong avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dong continues to drive forward.

Franklin Dong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Miles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Miles wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dong keeps working.
Miles throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Dong works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Miles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miles thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dong's head.
Dong won't allow Miles to pass to mount.

Miles working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Dong looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Miles! Submission of the night perhaps?
