PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terrell Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brewer comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. Griffin has chosen Big Punisher- Beware as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terrell Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brewer swivels and escapes.
Griffin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Brewer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brewer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Griffin.
Brewer wants to get back to his feet.
Griffin drops an elbow to the side of Brewer's head.
Griffin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Griffin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brewer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brewer and Griffin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Griffin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Brewer tries to bench press Griffin off him but Griffin keeps the position.
Griffin tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brewer wants to control but Griffin postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Griffin counters with a nice uppercut.

and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brewer won't be happy with that.

Griffin in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Griffin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brewer has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Griffin but great work by Brewer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brewer trying to control the action but Griffin is working from the bottom.

Brewer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Griffin throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brewer is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Brewer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Griffin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Griffin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Brewer's guard.
Griffin is in close to Brewer's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Brewer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Griffin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brewer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Griffin throws a strike but Brewer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Brewer is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Griffin defends it well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Brewer wants to take a breather but Griffin is having none of it.

Griffin is looking for a sweep. Brewer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brewer clinches but Griffin breaks the clinch
and Griffin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Terrell Brewer will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Brewer is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Griffin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Brewer gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Griffin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Brewer lets go of the hold and Griffin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Terrell Brewer!
