Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Mccormick (ranked 14104 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Sas (ranked 4675 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Sas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Mccormick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Sas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mccormick gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mccormick is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Sas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mccormick walks away with a smile on his face. Sas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mccormick tries to keep at a distance but Sas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sas slowing the pace effectively.
Mccormick looking to throw knees to the head but Sas is blocking nicely.
Mccormick pushes off an throws an elbow but Sas leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Mccormick throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sas blocks it with crossed arms.

Mccormick tries to stall but Sas uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sas gets underhooks to prevent Mccormick's takedown attempt.
Mccormick is trying to drag Sas to the mat but Sas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mccormick jumps guard but Sas stands there with Mccormick around his waist. Mccormick gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Mccormick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sas pulls Mccormick into guard.
Mccormick trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Sas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mccormick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mccormick doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mccormick manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mccormick drops back looking for a leg! Sas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sas manages to kick Mccormick off! Mccormick jumps back into Sas's guard.
Mccormick is looking to work some ground and pound but Sas has wrist control.

Mccormick wanted to stand there but Sas had control of the position.

Mccormick postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mccormick lands a couple of digs.

Mccormick drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mccormick jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sas is trying to control the position but Mccormick postures up.

Mccormick drops back looking for a leg! Sas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sas manages to kick Mccormick off! Mccormick jumps back into Sas's guard.
Mccormick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sas wants to sweep here but Mccormick controlling him for the moment.
Sas trying to keep a closed guard but Mccormick is proving a slippery customer.

Sas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mccormick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Sas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mccormick tries to escape but Sas is in control.
Mccormick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sas trying to control the position but Mccormick is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sas throws an elbow but Mccormick slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mccormick sneaks back into half guard.

Mccormick looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Mccormick makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Sas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mccormick swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mccormick dives in and scores a takedown into Sas's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mccormick tries to avoid it but Sas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mccormick to the ground. Mccormick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mccormick fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mccormick avoids it really well and circles away.
Sas dives in and grabs Mccormick's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mccormick pushes down on Sas's head and hops out.
Steve Mccormick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Sas.
Sas shoots for a takedown but Mccormick saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mccormick looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Both fighters circling a little - Sas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Mccormick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sas can do to turn this around?
Mccormick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sas.
Mccormick throws a front kick aimed at Sas's knee but Sas avoids it well.
Mccormick misses the jab.
Despite the aggression on Sas's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sas, right into the meat.
Sas looks for a takedown but Mccormick sprawls well.
Mccormick appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Sas fails to land the takedown.
Sas is breathing heavily.

Mccormick lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Mccormick shoots in and gets a takedown into Sas's guard.
Mccormick postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mccormick wants to stand but Sas is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mccormick throws a strike but Sas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


The fighters are working up against the cage. Mccormick manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sas has picked Mccormick up - he's going for a ride! Sas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Mccormick kicks Sas off and gets back to his feet.
Sas rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Mccormick counters by moving into the clinch.

Sas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sas.
Mccormick is looking to counter punch.
Sas lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Sas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mccormick looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Mccormick stuffs the takedown.
Michael Sas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mccormick moves away.
Sas misses with a combination
and Sas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sas shoots in but no luck this time.
Sas fails to land the takedown.
Mccormick jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Mccormick dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Mccormick makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Sas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mccormick avoids it really well and circles away.
Sas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mccormick jumps into guard, dragging Sas to the mat.

Mccormick has his foot on Sas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sas works his way back into a safe position though.

Mccormick wants to stand but Sas is controlling the position.

Sas is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Mccormick has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Sas is looking to defend but Mccormick has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Sas! Mccormick pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Sas taps out and this one is all over!
