Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Watson Sr (ranked 5421 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Yong (ranked 6699 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Watson Sr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Yong!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson Sr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Watson Sr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yong uses from the top position.

Yong tries to free his leg and advance position but Watson Sr is retaining full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Yong working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Watson Sr has his hands on Yong's head, controlling the position.

Yong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Watson Sr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yong has managed to get both his arms back between Watson Sr's legs - danger averted.
Yong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watson Sr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Watson Sr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Yong wants it to stay on the feet.
Watson Sr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yong circles away.

Watson Sr shoots in looking for a takedown. Yong tries to sprawl out of it but Watson Sr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yong tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Watson Sr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Yong wants to hit a switch here but Watson Sr passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Yong there!

Watson Sr wants to finish this one by submission but Yong is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Watson Sr.
Yong is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Watson Sr breaks from Yong's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Watson Sr manages to capitalize on a mistake by Yong to take his back!
Watson Sr just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Watson Sr. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Yong is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Yong tries to close the distance and clinch up but Watson Sr swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A head kick from Yong lands but Watson Sr takes it in his stride.
Yong does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Watson Sr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Yong shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Watson Sr as he avoids it easily.

Watson Sr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Yong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Watson Sr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
