Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ian Lock!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Payne!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne lands a really nice looking cross but Lock seems unphased.
Payne misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Payne darts in and clinches Lock up against the cage.
Lock tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Payne smiles and moves away.
Payne defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lock.
Payne slaps away a takedown attempt from Lock, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ian Lock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lock closes the distance and clinches up with Payne, looking for a takedown. Lock pushes Payne against the cage but Payne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Payne takes the fight into the clinch.
Lock tries to pull guard but Payne holds him up against the cage and eventually Lock drops back down to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lock fails to pull guard.
Lock tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Payne is pressed up against the cage. Lock has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Payne down to the mat. Payne avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Payne looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Payne clinches.
Lock tries to pull guard but Payne won't allow it.

Payne manages to break the clinch.

Lock closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Payne to the mat! Payne manages to get full guard.

Payne has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lock off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Payne instigates a clinch.

Payne pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lock needs to keep his hands up - Payne had a free shot at his head there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Payne lands a glancing blow to the side of Lock's head.

Payne moves into range and clinches up with Lock.

Lock breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Payne drops Lock with a naaaaasty hook - Lock is in real trouble here! Payne dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Payne!
Alex Payne is the new light heavyweight champion!
Our winner, Alex Payne, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
