CACC 8 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Mario Eikmeyer (ranked 4248 p4p, 365 weight class) and Rian MacFarlane (ranked 2768 p4p, 278 weight class). MacFarlane has chosen The Foggy Dew as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rian MacFarlane told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Rian MacFarlane!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Eikmeyer shoots for a takedown but MacFarlane saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Eikmeyer shoots in looking for a takedown but MacFarlane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Eikmeyer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

MacFarlane's coach down at Pablo's Boxing Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on MacFarlane's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Eikmeyer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed MacFarlane clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

MacFarlane is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Eikmeyer is staying active.

MacFarlane just trying to survive but Eikmeyer is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
MacFarlane might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Eikmeyer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Eikmeyer is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. MacFarlane is defending well though. Eikmeyer let's go of the attempt for now.

MacFarlane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Eikmeyer is working away from the top position though.

Eikmeyer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. MacFarlane doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Eikmeyer.

MacFarlane moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

MacFarlane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eikmeyer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eikmeyer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Eikmeyer got a little sloppy there for a moment and MacFarlane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Eikmeyer has managed to get both his arms back between MacFarlane's legs - danger averted.

Eikmeyer drops back looking for a leg! MacFarlane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and MacFarlane manages to kick Eikmeyer off! Eikmeyer jumps back into MacFarlane's guard.

Eikmeyer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! MacFarlane is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! MacFarlane has escaped and now he's on top!

Eikmeyer seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

MacFarlane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Eikmeyer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. MacFarlane is aware though and is defending well.

MacFarlane has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Eikmeyer to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! MacFarlane is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Eikmeyer pulls down on the head and he's put MacFarlane to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mario Eikmeyer!
In his post fight interview, Mario Eikmeyer started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
In defeat, Rian MacFarlane stepped up to the mic, saying 'Sorry guys everything is still fuzzy... but I think he tapped out... so it is what it is... who am I again?'.
