Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Mccormick (ranked 6897 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valentin Heidemann (ranked 4556 p4p, 0 weight class). Heidemann has chosen Look Alive as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Mccormick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Valentin Heidemann!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Mccormick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Heidemann swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Heidemann has clasped his hands together around Mccormick's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Heidemann is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mccormick's shoulder. That is not cool.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mccormick is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Heidemann asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Heidemann's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mccormick wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mccormick is pushing Heidemann's head away, looking to escape. Heidemann manages to hold on to the position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Heidemann goes for a takedown attempt but Mccormick pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mccormick cracks Heidemann with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Mccormick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Heidemann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A close round but Valentin Heidemann will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mccormick wants to stand up but Heidemann is controlling him.
Heidemann is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Heidemann won't allow Mccormick to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Steve Mccormick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mccormick jabs Heidemann right on the nose. Heidemann blinks but takes it well.

Heidemann drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mccormick defends it well.
Mccormick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Heidemann as he jumps to the side.
And Heidemann tries to counter it with a takedown but Mccormick pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Mccormick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That was a close second round but I would say that Steve Mccormick will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

And Heidemann tries to counter it with a takedown but Mccormick pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Good leg kick by Mccormick there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mccormick goes for a double leg but Heidemann avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Heidemann continues to drive forward.
Heidemann is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mccormick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Heidemann is fending him off so far but Mccormick persists. Nope, Heidemann circles away and we're back to standing.
Mccormick tries to clinch but Heidemann moves out of range.
Heidemann uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mccormick.
Heidemann changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Heidemann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mccormick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Mccormick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mccormick gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Mccormick is fighting off a takedown attempt but Heidemann is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mccormick to the mat. Mccormick regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Heidemann is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mccormick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Heidemann has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Valentin Heidemann has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mccormick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Heidemann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Heidemann manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mccormick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heidemann gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Valentin Heidemann.
I think Heidemann has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
