PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paavo Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jyrki Pekkala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurmi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Suomalainen. Jyrki Pekkala is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekkala doesn't manage to clinch there - Nurmi circles away.
Pekkala moves in looking to clinch but Nurmi pushes him off.
Pekkala fails with an attempt to clinch.

Nurmi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pekkala kicks Nurmi off and gets back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nurmi shoots in for a double leg but Pekkala sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pekkala tries to clinch but Nurmi moves out of range.
Jyrki Pekkala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nurmi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pekkala just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nurmi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pekkala gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pekkala is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Nurmi has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Pekkala is looking to defend but Nurmi has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Pekkala! Nurmi pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Pekkala taps out and this one is all over!
