The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook shoots in for a takedown but Mccarty shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mccarty tries to keep at a distance but Cook has taken the fight into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Cook prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cook is trying to push Mccarty away but Mccarty has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Mccarty manages to break the clinch.
Cook looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Cook with a poor takedown

and Mccarty counters by moving into the clinch.
Cook misses with an elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mccarty gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Mccarty is looking for a kimura but Cook is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mccarty to get the leverage.

Mccarty is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mccarty thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mccarty is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cook sees it coming and defends easily.

Cook is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

It looks like Jayson Mccarty has been cut.
Mccarty takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mccarty shoots in for a takedown but Cook shows good takedown defense.
Mccarty shoots for a double leg takedown but Cook sprawls well. He's pushed Mccarty's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cook closes the distance and clinches.

Mccarty fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cook avoids it really well and circles away.
Mccarty doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mccarty is breathing heavily.

Mccarty's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cook connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mccarty scrambles back to his feet.
Cook fakes the body blow, causing Mccarty to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Mccarty goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
