Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trevor Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escalante stuffs the takedown attempt from Martinez. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet.
A punch combination from Martinez misses.
Escalante really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Martinez has his foot on Escalante's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Escalante works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Escalante uses it to pass to side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Escalante scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Martinez to see if he's OK.

Escalante is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Martinez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Martinez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Escalante's best efforts.

Escalante is nestled in close to Martinez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Escalante knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martinez on the ground.
Martinez wants to control but Escalante is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Escalante drops back, looking for a kneebar! Martinez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Martinez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Martinez!

Martinez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Escalante is looking to escape.

Escalante tries to improve his position but instead Martinez has taken his back!

Escalante wants to control his opponent's hands but Martinez gets his hands free.

Escalante breaks Martinez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ricardo Escalante will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Martinez bucks up and tries to throw Escalante off but instead Escalante has got his back!

Escalante is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Martinez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Escalante looking to break Martinez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Martinez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Escalante will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Martinez can't escape the position.
Escalante is trying to stick to Martinez's back but Martinez is turning into Escalante. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Escalante's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Martinez.

Escalante on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Escalante tries to get out of the position.
