Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Mcdonald (ranked 3738 p4p, 413 weight class) and Sean Shurk (ranked 4197 p4p, 452 weight class). Shurk comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Unforgiving by Metallica kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sean Shurk!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcdonald closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shurk to the mat! Shurk manages to get full guard.

Shurk manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Mcdonald tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shurk's elbow.
Mcdonald changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shurk fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Shurk leaves Mcdonald with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Shurk is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Mcdonald misses with a takedown attempt - Shurk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shurk raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Mcdonald. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Shurk counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Horrible takedown attempt by Mcdonald or perhaps it was just good defense by Shurk, which made it look bad.
Shurk lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Shurk is looking to clinch.

Mcdonald definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ronald Mcdonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mcdonald shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shurk is trying to defend but Mcdonald finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Shurk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcdonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shurk kicks off Mcdonald and gets to his feet.

Shurk gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Shurk lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Shurk gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mcdonald.
Shurk gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Shurk comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mcdonald avoids a wild elbow strike from Shurk.

Shurk is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mcdonald is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Shurk to the mat. Shurk regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Shurk wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mcdonald manages to pass to side control.
Shurk pushes Mcdonald off but Mcdonald dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mcdonald has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Shurk is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mcdonald yanks on the arm and Shurk is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mcdonald.
