We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Widaca can do anything to dispel that myth.
Widaca wants to stand and escape but Meeuwis is having none of it.

Meeuwis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Widaca tries to avoid it but Meeuwis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Widaca to the ground. Widaca escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Meeuwis shoots in looking for a takedown. Widaca tries to sprawl out of it but Meeuwis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Widaca manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Meeuwis closes the distance and clinches up with Widaca, looking for a takedown. Meeuwis pushes Widaca against the cage but Widaca circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Meeuwis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Widaca finds it's way round the side to connect with Meeuwis 's head.

Widaca lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Widaca wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Widaca tries to break the clinch but Meeuwis is controlling the position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Widaca.
Meeuwis keeps control of Widaca as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Widaca is pressed up against the cage. Meeuwis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Widaca down to the mat. Widaca avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Meeuwis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Widaca is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Meeuwis .
Meeuwis throws the left hand but Widaca avoids the punch easily.
Meeuwis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Widaca circles away.

Meeuwis takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Widaca tries to clinch up but Meeuwis circles away and keeps his distance.
Meeuwis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Widaca.
Widaca wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Meeuwis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Widaca's waist but Widaca gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Meeuwis off to one side.
Widaca throws a half hearted mid kick.
Widaca looks to land a right hand but Meeuwis moved out of range.
The crowd cheers as Widaca lands an impressive looking overhand right. Meeuwis doesn't seem phased though.
Widaca might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Widaca will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Widaca throws a hook but Meeuwis blocks it.
Meeuwis checks a leg kick nicely.

Meeuwis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Meeuwis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Meeuwis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

John Widaca showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Widaca is looking to stand up but Meeuwis isn't so interested in that idea.

Meeuwis has hold of Widaca's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Widaca manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Meeuwis seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Widaca is holding on tight.
Widaca is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Widaca is trying desperately to improve position.

Meeuwis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Meeuwis fails to take his opponent's back.

Widaca is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Widaca tries to hold on but Meeuwis postures up.
Widaca can't escape the position.

Meeuwis throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Widaca has his hands clasped together but Meeuwis breaks the hold and Widaca is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Meeuwis !
