PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryohei Horie (ranked 2017 p4p, 0 weight class) and Syco Souirrel (ranked 2176 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Syco Souirrel!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Souirrel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Horie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Horie throws a sloppy head kick

and Souirrel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Souirrel keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Souirrel moves into full mount! Horie won't be happy about that!
Horie in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Souirrel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Horie is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Horie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souirrel on the ground.

Horie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Souirrel.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Souirrel cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Horie is in all sorts of trouble here.
Souirrel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Horie wants to hold on but Souirrel pushes him away.
Horie is wriggling around trying to escape.

Horie defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Souirrel.

Souirrel stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Souirrel fails with the takedown.
Horie throws a head kick that misses.
Souirrel drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Horie defends it well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Horie. Souirrel does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Souirrel.
Ryohei Horie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Syco Souirrel.

and Souirrel moves into the clinch.
Horie tries to break the clinch but Souirrel is controlling the position.

Souirrel gets control of Horie's arms and successfully pulls guard. Souirrel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Souirrel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Souirrel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Horie defends well.
Souirrel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Horie's guard.

Horie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Souirrel wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Souirrel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Horie to his feet.

Souirrel drives through with a takedown into Horie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Horie wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Souirrel manages to pass to side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Syco Souirrel dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Horie doesn't manage to clinch there - Souirrel circles away.

Souirrel clinches up against the cage.
Horie wants to break free but Souirrel has control.
Horie looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Horie breaks the clinch.
Horie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horie doesn't manage to clinch there - Souirrel circles away.
Horie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
No joy there for Horie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Souirrel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Horie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Horie drops Souirrel with a beautiful combination! Souirrel stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Horie is looking for the KO!

Souirrel is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Look low, kick high! Horie uses the oldest trick in the book to send Souirrel tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Horie is absolutely delighted - when Souirrel wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
