PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Bishop (ranked 24748 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kribb Thunder (ranked 24207 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Buddy Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kribb Thunder!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bishop scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bishop happy to just control the position for now.
Thunder tries to buck Bishop off but Bishop is having none of it.
Bishop lands a nice forearm strike.
Thunder is looking for a sweep.
Bishop looks up at the clock and then as Thunder takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bishop smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Thunder tries to bench press Bishop off him but Bishop keeps the position.
Thunder looks winded!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bishop is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thunder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bishop lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Thunder down.

Bishop scores with a couple of short elbows.
Bishop landing strikes.
Thunder takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The strikes coming from Bishop are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Bishop could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Thunder regains half guard, as Bishop was trying to land strikes.
Bishop prevents Thunder from improving his position.

Bishop is working for a kimura but Thunder is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bishop is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Bishop lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Thunder flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Thunder has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bishop is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Bishop darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Buddy Bishop overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thunder is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bishop connects with a decent elbow.
Bishop controls the position from side control.
Bishop wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thunder keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bishop in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Bishop connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Thunder some visible discomfort.
Thunder tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bishop wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Thunder is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Bishop is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Thunder has escaped the position, nice work there.
Thunder tries to buck Bishop off but Bishop is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bishop dives in and scores a takedown into Thunder's guard.
Thunder is looking to stand back up but Bishop counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Thunder.

Well, if Bishop is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Thunder is defending against the submission attempts here by Bishop.
