Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Archie Hughes (ranked 24843 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Chartrand (ranked 3947 p4p, 0 weight class). Chartrand has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chartrand throws a shot to the body.
Hughes doesn't manage to clinch there - Chartrand circles away.
Hughes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Chartrand at a distance.
Chartrand throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hughes misses with a takedown attempt
and Chartrand counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Chartrand.
Hughes throws a looping overhand right but Chartrand ducks down to avoid it.

and Chartrand counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hughes thinking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes moves away from the strike by Chartrand.
Chartrand throws an overhand right that lands on Hughes's shoulder, as Hughes tries to avoid the shot.
Archie Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chartrand lands a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughes darts in looking for a takedown but Chartrand gets double underhooks and turns Hughes into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Archie Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chartrand sends Hughes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Chartrand is motioning to the referee to let Hughes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chartrand lands a big uppercut and Hughes crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hughes looks OK. Chartrand waves Hughes back to his feet!

Oh Hughes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chartrand ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hughes's jaw. Hughes's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Chartrand does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dustin Chartrand!
A very excited looking Dustin Chartrand rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
