PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Jones (ranked 5032 p4p, 454 weight class) and Peter Dinklage (ranked 2283 p4p, 268 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Number 1. Peter Dinklage will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Dinklage!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dinklage darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage.
Jones wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jones looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Dinklage pulls Jones into guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Dinklage keeps moving.
Dinklage controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Dinklage slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.


Jones looking for subs off his back but Dinklage has passed one foot through into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Dinklage with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Dinklage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jones is trying to stand back up but Dinklage is controlling him

Dinklage moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Jones.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Dinklage is dominant here and he's now got Jones's back!

Dinklage has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Dinklage is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jones knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jones for a finish.

Dinklage takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Dinklage thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Dinklage decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jones to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones takes a kick to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dinklage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.

Peter Dinklage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dinklage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dinklage gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dinklage closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones did well to prevent Dinklage getting side control.
Jones tries to kick Dinklage off in order to stand up. Dinklage Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Dinklage content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Dinklage decides to stand back up. Dinklage steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.
Daniel Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dinklage moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jones wants to break free but Dinklage has control.
Peter Dinklage is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Dinklage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter Dinklage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dinklage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
