Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Christie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aaron Evans!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Christie back to the cage. Evans follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like William Christie has been cut.
Christie throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Evans cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Evans has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Evans throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Christie.
Evans misses with a looping left.
Evans throws an overhand right that lands on Christie's shoulder, as Christie tries to avoid the shot.

Christie moves away from the strike by Evans.

Evans bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Evans is trying to get an arm triangle but Christie is defending well.

Evans tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Evans has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Christie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Christie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Christie wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

Evans has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Christie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Evans has his foot on Christie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Christie works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Christie has Evans up against the cage in a clinch.
Christie stalling in the clinch but Evans improves position.
Christie swings wildly with an uppercut but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.

Christie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Evans uses from the top position.

A relieved looking Aaron Evans thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
