The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov throws a series of punches but Romero moves out of range.

Petrov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Romero was covering up waiting for the punch and Petrov finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Petrov postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Romero pulls Petrov in close to his closed guard and prevents Petrov from doing any damage or advancing position.
Petrov postures up in Romero's guard and throws a big left but Romero blocks it.
Romero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Romero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petrov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Romero doesn't manage to clinch there - Petrov circles away.

Petrov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Petrov showed some decent athleticism there.
